The μpad system is based around the idea of a common backplane with replaceable controller boards and module boards. This approach works well with the controllers we’ve designed so far. With the Raspberry Pi we have challenge. As you can see above there are connectors an all four sides of the board. The μpad backplane is designed with module boards to the left and right of the controller. We have been looking for a way to easily attach the Raspberry Pi so that all the connections are accessible and it is still easy to add and remove modules.
At the moment we are moving towards the idea of a dedicated backplane designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi (all models if we can manage it). We’ll keep you posted on what we decide. Feel free to add your own opinion in the comments below.
